Winter 2012 German Classes – Round Rock
The German-Texan Heritage Society offers German language classes for adults in Round Rock. The fall adult class is 1.5 hours long and meets Mondays at the Clay Madsen Recreation Center, 1600 Gattis School Rd, Round Rock, TX in the Arts & Crafts Room.
The cost of the 12-week winter semester of Beginning Conversational German for adults is $70 for GTHS members and $80 for non-members. The class requires Taylor and Haas’ German: A Self Teaching Guide (available at GTHS for $20). The registration deadline for the adult class is February 1st. Class size is limited, so please register early. Any registrations received after the registration deadline will be subject to a $5 late fee per student. Beginning Conversational German

12-week course, 1.5 hours a week, textbook required
This class concentrates on commonly used words and phrases and their correct pronunciation, using a conversational approach to teaching. This class is meant for those who know no German or who want to brush up on the basics. Upon completion of the course, participants should be able to pronounce the alphabet and sound out word combinations, read and speak simple phrases, and be able to understand and speak simple sentences, including asking for directions, ordering off the menu, and telling time and general conversation. The last class meeting will be held at a local German restaurant so students can practice their newly obtained language skills by ordering off the menu and chatting with the native staff. The date and time of this meeting are to be announced. The course requires Taylor and Haas’ German: A Self Teaching Guide which is available from GTHS and costs $20.00.
