Winter 2010 Adult & Children’s German Classes – Bryan
The German-Texan Heritage Society offers German language classes for adults and children. Adult classes are 1.5 hours long, while Samstagsschule (Saturday school) classes for kids are 2 hours long. All classes meet at Blinn College-Bryan, 2433 Blinn Blvd, Bryan, TX 77805 on the second floor of the Bookstore Building in Room G235.
The cost of the 12 week winter semester of German I for adults is $50 for GTHS members and $55 for non-members. The registration deadline for the adult class is February 1st. A registration form can be downloaded at Bryan Adult Winter 2010 Registration Form.
Children’s Saturday school classes for a 12-week winter session (1 lesson per week) costs $130 per student for GTHS members and $145 for non-members. Discounts are available for siblings. German I (for adults)

Saturdays – 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm; February 6 – May 8, 2010 (no class March 13 & 20)
This class emphasizes vocabulary acquisition, simple conversation, and structure of the German language using traditional methods of instruction. The course covers the first half of Taylor’s and Haas’ German: A Self Teaching Guide and is designed for beginning students as well as those who already know some German. The self-teaching guide is available from GTHS and costs $20.00. No prerequisite, although many find Beginning Conversational German helpful.
Samstagsschule (children’s classes)

Saturdays – 9:30 pm to 11:30 am; February 6 – May 8, 2010 (no class March 13 & 20)
The German Saturday School offers fun and engaging language instruction for kids. The class is designed for children between the age of 6 -12. Lessons focus on comprehension and speaking for all age groups. The instructor will use art, music, and games as well as traditional learning methods. Children will also gain skills reading and writing in German. Tuition includes all instructional materials as well as a small snack each week.
