The German Saturday School of San Antonio offers fun and engaging language instruction for kids. These classes, designed for children ages 3-13, meet Saturday mornings in downtown San Antonio. Two 12-week sessions are offered each year, beginning in January (spring session) and September (fall session). Both spring and fall semester classes run Saturdays from 9:30 to 11:30 am.
Our teaching staff consists of native German speakers experienced in tutoring children and German teachers from local public schools. Lessons focus on comprehension and speaking for all age groups. Instructors use art, music, and games as well as traditional learning methods. Older students will gain skills reading and writing in German. Grundschule and Mittelschule students (ages 6-13) will use German textbooks and in-class materials from the Klett Verlag.
Samstagsschule classes are organized by the German-Texan Heritage Society (GTHS), a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the German heritage in Texas. Classes are held at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at 502 E. Nueva Street, San Antonio, TX 78205.
