Austin - Koblenz - 25th Year Anniversary Celebration as Sister Cities.

It is with great honor that GTHS was invited to take part in the week long Sister City Celebration and in showing our guests, the Koblenz City Council and Business leaders, around our great city of Austin.  Yesterday’s anniversary celebration was held at Silicon Labs where distinguished guests, such as Austin Mayor Steve Alder, former mayors Lee Cooke, Bruce Todd as well as Don Van Stone (Austin), Christian Schmitz (Koblenz), Micheal Wolf (Koblenz) along with many others who spoke about the special relationship between the two cities, along with current and future plans to continue to enhance and build upon each other strengths.  A special honor was given to Renata Anderson, who with her imagination and energy made Austin-Kolblenz happen and kept it going.  Mayor Steve Alder proclaimed May 23rd 2017 as Renata Anderson day. Also recognized was Helga Von Schweinitz and Margie Tiedt who also helped build and continued the support, connections and this lasting relationship.

Vielen Dank to the Koblenz City Council members, business leaders and Sister City Association for spending a week exploring and building connections with Austin citizens, businesses and educational centers. It was our honor to be your “tour” guides and highlighting what makes Austin, Austin and Texas, Texas.

GTHS plans to continue to strengthen the bond by working with our Sister City Koblenz contacts by importing products from the Koblenz area to sell at our Weihnachtsmarkt “Christmas Market” and bring Fasching “Carnival” celebration to our list of planned festivals in February 2018.
