A Celebration of Spring at the German Free School

The German-Texan Heritage Society sponsors this fun day of German culture in the gardens of the German Free School in downtown Austin. Enjoy live music, delicious German food, and a selection of three German beers in the Biergarten: Paulaner Pilsner, Spaten Bock, and Warsteiner Dunkel. Activities include folk dancing and the wrapping of the Maypole by the Austin Waldorf School German students, Don Harms’ marionette show, an amateur arm wrestling tournament, a silent auction, and a used German book sale. Live music will be provided by Shirley Johnson, the Austin Saengerrunde and several others. There will be special activities for children all day long, including crafts, games, and singing.

Volunteers Shifts Available!

We are looking for volunteers to help set up, greet visitors, serve food and drinks, assist with the kids’ activities, monitor the silent auction, help with the German book sale, and assist in clean up.
